A Dubai 4-day itinerary works best grouped by area: Downtown and Burj Khalifa on one day, a desert safari on another, Old Dubai's souks and creek on a third, and the Marina or beach on the fourth. Dubai is spread out, so grouping by geography saves hours.

A five-night Thailand itinerary works best as two bases: three nights in Phuket for beaches and the Phi Phi day trip, then two nights in Krabi for Railay and the Four Islands. The two are linked by ferry or road, so plan the transfer as its own half-day.

A Maldives 4-night itinerary is shaped by one decision: the resort transfer. Speedboat resorts let you arrive and swim the same day; seaplane resorts fly only in daylight, which can cost you a half-day at each end. Plan snorkelling early and the sandbank or sunset cruise mid-stay.

A five-day Sri Lanka itinerary should pick one line through the island rather than a loop: Colombo or Negombo, up to Kandy, on to the hill country by train, then down to the southern coast. Attempting the cultural triangle as well in five days means a trip spent on the road.

A Kashmir 5-day itinerary usually bases in Srinagar and runs day trips out: Gulmarg for the gondola, Pahalgam for the valley, and Srinagar itself for the Mughal gardens, Dal Lake and a houseboat night. Doonga and Sonmarg are the common additions when a sixth day exists.
