Thailand Visa for Indians
Indian passport holders currently enter Thailand visa-free for tourism — up to 60 days. Here is exactly what immigration still checks at the counter.

Thailand currently sits in the best possible category for Indian travellers: no visa, no fee, no pre-approval for tourism. Under the standing exemption, Indian passport holders receive up to 60 days on arrival. That does not mean nothing is checked — it means the checking happens at the immigration counter, and being ready is what keeps it to ninety seconds.
What the officer can ask for
- A passport valid at least 6 months from your arrival date
- A confirmed onward or return ticket within your permitted stay
- Proof of accommodation for at least the first nights
- Proof of funds — the working guideline is 10,000 THB per person (about ₹26,000), in cash, card statements, or a mix
In practice most travellers are stamped through without a single question. The requests come when something looks off: a one-way ticket, a very long intended stay, or a previous overstay. Carry the paperwork; odds are you will not open it.
The honest caveat about exemptions
Visa-free schemes are policy, not law — governments extend, trim, or attach conditions to them with limited notice. Thailand's exemption for Indians has been repeatedly extended and currently stands, but we confirm the live status in writing for every client the week they fly. If you are reading this long after our verified date in the panel above, ask us for the current position before booking anything non-refundable.
Extensions and edge cases
Need longer than the exemption allows? A 30-day extension is typically available at Thai immigration offices for a fee, once. Planning work, study, or repeated back-to-back visits? Those are different visa categories entirely — the exemption is for genuine tourism, and border officers are experienced at telling the difference.
Where we fit
For Thailand we mostly save you from stale information: confirming the live entry rules for your dates, making sure your ticket pattern will not raise questions, and bundling the entry briefing with your package so arrival is a formality. Our Phuket–Krabi itinerary on the packages page is built around exactly this easy-entry advantage.
